The aim of the present work is to elaborate and analyse a self-report measuring instrument in order to detect the father’s attitude and his own educational beliefs. After a deep study of past and present literature concerning this topic, a theoretical construct was found. On the basis of this model, wich has been confirmed by interviews to parents and educational problems specialists, a 135-item questionnaire was constructed. This questionnaire was administered on a sample of 906 fathers. Through item analysis and other statistical procedures, a 68-item final version was obtained.
