Abstract Risk assessment in health care facilities. The risk assessment is an important procedure in occupational medicine, also due to the international and domestic regulations and recommendations. In hospitals and other health care facilities too, the risk assessment could enable the identification of hazards, the characterization of risk and thus the programme of adequate preventive measures. In this paper some theoretical and methodological aspects of risk assessment practice and related documentation in health care facilities are focussed and the strict relation between preventive activities, quality system and accreditation standards for hospitals and other health services is finally discussed.
