The results are presented of a study on the mechanical and rheological characteristics of porous asphalts with added polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibres. The research evaluated the capacity of these fibres to reduce the fragility of the bituminous mixture, which is made more elastic and resistant to impacts, increasing resistance to fatigue and traffic abrasion. The experimentation was conducted using mechanical laboratory tests on samples obtained by two different compaction methods: Marshall and gyratory. The use of the gyratory compactor for compacting the samples gave a series of additional information com-pared to the traditional Marshall system, which was useful for evaluating the benefits produced by the fibres to the mechanical and rheological behaviour of the bituminous mixtures.

Abstract
The results are presented of a study on the mechanical and rheological characteristics of porous asphalts with added polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibres. The research evaluated the capacity of these fibres to reduce the fragility of the bituminous mixture, which is made more elastic and resistant to impacts, increasing resistance to fatigue and traffic abrasion. The experimentation was conducted using mechanical laboratory tests on samples obtained by two different compaction methods: Marshall and gyratory. The use of the gyratory compactor for compacting the samples gave a series of additional information com-pared to the traditional Marshall system, which was useful for evaluating the benefits produced by the fibres to the mechanical and rheological behaviour of the bituminous mixtures.Pubblicazioni consigliate
