This paper presents a joint public-private research program supported by the Italian Ministry of Research devoted to the analysis and prototyping of a reconfigurable and interoperable mobile transceiver to support the transport of multimedia information. The study will bring some idea for the next generation of mobile communications systems.

Abstract
