Extensions to the yrast decay sequence of the neutron-rich nucleus 1741Cl24 have been established through the analysis of the γ deexcitation of fragments produced in deep-inelastic processes which occur when 230 MeV 36S ions interact with a target of 176Yb. The highly sensitive GASP array of escape-suppressed Ge detectors was used to measure the resulting γ-ray deexcitations of both projectilelike and targetlike fragments. New excited states in 41Cl are observed at 1445 and 2451 keV, thus adding to the two previously known excited states. Comparisons to shell-model calculations have also been made.

Abstract
Extensions to the yrast decay sequence of the neutron-rich nucleus 1741Cl24 have been established through the analysis of the γ deexcitation of fragments produced in deep-inelastic processes which occur when 230 MeV 36S ions interact with a target of 176Yb. The highly sensitive GASP array of escape-suppressed Ge detectors was used to measure the resulting γ-ray deexcitations of both projectilelike and targetlike fragments. New excited states in 41Cl are observed at 1445 and 2451 keV, thus adding to the two previously known excited states. Comparisons to shell-model calculations have also been made.File in questo prodotto:
