Abstract
Titanium and its alloys are technologically relevant materials, due to their excellent mechanical, lightweight and corrosion resistance characteristics. From the first applications in the aeronautic field, in recent years developments have been made for using titanium in chemical industry, in biomedicine, in sports. Apart from the knowledge of the technological characteristics of titanium and its alloys, it is fundamental to evaluate their potential in terms of shaping processes. Certainly, among the different possibilities, foundry, and especially the investment casting process, allow the manufacturing of components having optimal technological and functional requirements. In this paper, the main aspects related to the investment casting of titanium and its alloys are analysed, reviewing the characteristics of the processes available.Pubblicazioni consigliate
