Sincerity may not be the rule in emotion communication. Discrepancies between felt and shared emotions for jealousy contexts were revealed to be somewhat greater than for sadness contexts, in quantitative and qualitative terms. We analyzed the influence of sex of subjects, seriousness of antecedent (light versus serious) and kind of listener (partner versus acquaintance). Emotional intensity and emotion categories were clearly influenced by variation of antecedent, but influence of listener was merely a tendency. Results are interpreted in terms of display rules.

Abstract
Sincerity may not be the rule in emotion communication. Discrepancies between felt and shared emotions for jealousy contexts were revealed to be somewhat greater than for sadness contexts, in quantitative and qualitative terms. We analyzed the influence of sex of subjects, seriousness of antecedent (light versus serious) and kind of listener (partner versus acquaintance). Emotional intensity and emotion categories were clearly influenced by variation of antecedent, but influence of listener was merely a tendency. Results are interpreted in terms of display rules.File in questo prodotto:
