A method has been recently proposed by Sasaoka and Tanaka for rapid crosstalk measurements, and demonstrated for short (10 m) polarization maintaining (PM) fibers. We introduce further simplification and successfully apply the method to medium‐length (100 m) fibers, e.g. for measuring crosstalk vs. fiber length. An accuracy of the order of 0.5 dB is easily achieved when measuring crosstalk around ‐ 30 dB. Copyright © 1990 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract
A method has been recently proposed by Sasaoka and Tanaka for rapid crosstalk measurements, and demonstrated for short (10 m) polarization maintaining (PM) fibers. We introduce further simplification and successfully apply the method to medium‐length (100 m) fibers, e.g. for measuring crosstalk vs. fiber length. An accuracy of the order of 0.5 dB is easily achieved when measuring crosstalk around ‐ 30 dB. Copyright © 1990 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.File in questo prodotto:
