Robene and Makyne is generally numbered among Robert Henryson's minor poems, mainly because it is quite difficult to classify in spite of its relation with Henryson's Moral Fables. This article analyses the poem as a late example of pastourelle, drawing on a well-established French poetic tradition (which presents important instances also in Italian and English medieval literature) and enriching it with a unique Scottish setting and atmosphere.

Abstract
Robene and Makyne is generally numbered among Robert Henryson's minor poems, mainly because it is quite difficult to classify in spite of its relation with Henryson's Moral Fables. This article analyses the poem as a late example of pastourelle, drawing on a well-established French poetic tradition (which presents important instances also in Italian and English medieval literature) and enriching it with a unique Scottish setting and atmosphere.File in questo prodotto:
