Caratteristiche della nuzialità in Italia nelle generazioni recenti

In this article it is shown how marriages changed in Italy in recent generations of women (from those born in 1941 from the born in the early eighties), with respect to the level of marriage rate and the characteristics of marriages, as the age of the bride, the combinations of marital status of the couple, the combined age of the spouses, the frequency of marriages preceded by cohabitation, the ritual celebration of the marriage, the nationality of the spouses, the rate of marriages at advanced ages of the brides. The official data from Istat, aggregated by generations of women, are used. The rate of marriage is calculated with distributions of women by sex, age and marital status, published annually. It is estimated that about 80% of women born in the early seventies were married at least once and that about two thirds of those born in the early eighties presumably will get married. The most significant changes concern the manner of celebration of marriage the abstract.
