We highlight the impact of the age structure of the population on the dynamics of the number of births and marriages in Italy in the period between 1964 and 2030. This impact was substantial. Until the mid-nineties the structure favorable slowed the decline in the number of births a marriages resulting in the decline of fertility and marriage. Later he acted to the reduction in the number of such events, even in the presence of a slight recovery of fertility and despite a positive contribution from the growth of the foreign population. In the future the impact of the age structure will be even more substantial and will be decisive in the result in a further reduction in the number of births and marriages that is unlikely to be stopped.
