The present initiative is supported through a grant of the Institute of Advanced Studies (ISA) of Bologna University. It aims to encourage the scientific debate and promote the public awareness of the threats related to global changes and of the needs for the future sustainability of our coastal marine systems. This aim will be pursued through integrated multidisciplinary lectures, public presentations, an International Winter School and a Workshop, which will see the participation of internationally renown Italian and foreign scientists.
