The book deals with the problem of providing social security for the elderly, whose physical and cognitive functional abilities are deteriorating, which makes them less self-sufficient and therefore dependent on the help of others. It discusses topics that are important for forming projections of demand for long-term care services. The model presented in the book represent the base for the planning of long-term care capacities, the necessary human resources and facilities for the provision of quality care for older adults dependent on the help of others. Throughout the study, the issue of investing in the long-term care system in the wider context of the institutional and community care organization is highlighted.
