In 1650 the later court librarian Peter Lambeck went to Rome. The city held an important place in the Republic of Letters, but it was also the centre of Catholicism. Religious factors would play an important role for the Protestant Peter Lambeck and his career. Though he was protected by his connection to the circle of academics and by his uncle Lucas Holstenius, it was only after converting to Catholicism that he was able to rise into higher circles. Despite the few personal comments in Lambeck’s correspondence, the historian Dr. Vittoria Feola pursues this aspect. She also finds an indication in the network of people in Rome in the 1660s as to why Lambeck ultimately moved to Vienna.

She also finds an indication in the network of people in Rome in the 1660s as to why Lambeck ultimately moved to Vienna.Pubblicazioni consigliate
