Abstract
The enormous correspondence of Nilus of Ankyra (PG 79, coll. 82-582) contains eight letters addressed to the magister militum and Gothic leader Gainas. The Greek monk attacks Gainas’ Arianism from a Nicaean point of view and tries to convert him. Noneless these letters cannot be authentic: they are rather a later redactional product (constructed with quotations by Gregory of Nazianzus and John Chrysostom), whose aim was to increase Nilus’ authority providing him a famous and relevant addressee.File in questo prodotto:
